How do humans produce sound?
In humans, voice is produced by the larynx or voice box present in the upper part of the human body. When air is made to pass through the slit, the vocal cords vibrate. With more tightening of vocal cords, vibrations in it increase and hence higher volume of sound is produced.
What is the source of a sound?
Sound is all about vibrations. The source of a sound vibrates, bumping into nearby air molecules which in turn bump into their neighbours, and so forth. This results in a wave of vibrations travelling through the air to the eardrum, which in turn also vibrates.
How is sound produced Class 8?
Two vocal cords are stretched across the voice box or larynx in such a way that it leaves a narrow slit between them for passage of air (Fig. 13.12). Does fire make a sound?
It’s not the fire actually making noise but either the item burning or the air being drawn in. Crackling wood is caused by sap, water or air pockets expanding and popping. Fire itself doesn’t make noise (apart from the hissing from the gas of your gas burner, a gas flame is relatively silent).
