Passenger Assist is a service available for older and disabled passengers travelling on the rail network. When you contact the train company you’re starting your journey with, they can: arrange assistance. help you on and off trains. reserve wheelchair spaces and seats.
What is train assisted travel?
Passenger Assist allows you to request assistance from rail staff for your journey to ensure everyone can travel by train safely, in comfort and with dignity. The train company you’re travelling with will organise assistance for your entire journey, even if you travel with another train company as part of your journey.
Do trains run on New Years day 2022?

Do carers go free on the train?
Carers/personal assistants do not travel free on trains. If you are entitled to a disabled railcard or one of these discounts, then a person travelling with you is entitled to the same discount.

Can you take a wheelchair on a train?
Many trains calling at unstaffed stations often carry an onboard wheelchair ramp enabling the guard to help you on and off the train. You should however ensure that the station you are travelling to and from is step free and/or staffed if you feel you will need assistance.
How do I get a refund for my National Rail ticket?
Refunds to most tickets can be made at the National Rail ticket office you purchased your ticket from before you travel. Alternatively, you can call the telesales outlet or visit the online retailer that you bought your ticket from.
What happens if my train ticket is cancelled or delayed?
Under the National Rail Conditions of Travel, if you have purchased a ticket and your train is cancelled or delayed, and you choose not to travel, you may return the unused ticket to the original retailer which the ticket was purchased from and you will be given a full refund with no administration fee being charged.
How do I make a claim for a delayed train?
Some train companies allow customers to register their season ticket online to make future claims quicker and easier. The National Rail Conditions of Travel outlines the minimum offered through an Operator’s Passengers’ Charter, but in practice the vast majority of Operators pay more than that, or when you have incurred a shorter delay.
Can I claim compensation under CRA for a train ticket delay?
The compensation you get under the CRA could be more than the price of the ticket, but you have to prove it was the Train Company’s fault. The CRA does not apply if delays or problems are caused by external events that are not within the Train Company’s control, or were caused by a third party.
